Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled its first so-called trifold smartphone, flaunting its engineering prowess in foldable devices even as the broader category has yet to catch on with mainstream consumers.

To address potential concerns regarding durability, Samsung has enhanced the hinges, aluminum frame, and display technology of its Galaxy Z trifold device to improve long-term reliability. In a bid to further support its customers, the company offers a one-time 50% discount on display repair costs if needed. This commitment underscores Samsung’s dedication to delivering a premium user experience while ensuring the longevity of its innovative devices. As a result, customers can enjoy the sleek design and functionality of the Galaxy Z without compromising on quality.

At its thinnest point, the TriFold measures 3.9 millimeters (0.15 inch). Inside, it contains a 5,600 milliamp-hour battery, marking the largest capacity that Samsung has used in a folding phone so far. The battery provides as much as 17 hours of consecutive video playback with the TriFold display fully open. However, in specifications shared with Bloomberg, the company didn’t say how long it expects the battery to last with typical usage.

The Pro version has a smaller 6.59-inch screen and lower-grade camera array, while also deploying the previous generation Snapdragon silicon. Both phones have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, while both batteries exceed 6,000mAh in size.
